River Street Seafood Festival

This May, Blake and I went downtown to enjoy Savannah’s annual River Street Seafood Festival. It was a beautiful day 78 and sunny, so we were excited to be outside soaking it up! I think Blake was most excited to see a line of food trucks where he was free to taste what every one of them had to offer.

It’s was the perfect combination of live reggae music, fresh seafood, cold beer and popsicles. We took our time strolling down River street sampling Shrimp Tacos, Fried Shrimp, Jalapeno Poppers, and Gator bites.

As a newly married couple on a small budget, we also loved that this festival was free and all food items were reasonably priced. This made the sampling easy and within budget! I was pleasantly surprised with the variety and taste of all the options available. We were out of town for the following Food Truck Festival but that’s another city event we need to take advantage of to ensure the city keeps organizing them in the future!

These free festivals that the city offers are a great way to experience what Savannah has to offer without breaking the bank. A lot of the vendors also gave out free samples, so you really could enjoy the festival without spending a dime if you wanted! All around, we had a wonderful day and we are definitely marking down the River Street Seafood Festival on our calendars for next year. If you’re in town next May, be sure to check it out too!
